Lorsque le Dr Hess Green est en contact avec un mystérieux artefact maudit par l’intermédiaire d’un amateur d’art ancien, Lafayette Hightower, il est irrémédiablement aspiré par une soif de sang qui submerge son âme. Il n’est cependant pas un véritable vampire. Lafayette succombe lui rapidement à la nature vorace du mal, mais laisse en Hess un homme transformé.
