19世紀ロンドン。フリート街で理髪店を営むベンジャミンは、妻や娘と幸福に暮らしていたが、彼の妻をわが物にしようとしたターピン判事の罠にはまり、島の刑務所に送られる。15年後、脱獄したベンジャミンはスウィーニー・トッドと名を変えてフリート街に戻る。だがパイ屋の主人ミセス・ラベットから、妻が自殺し、娘がターピンに幽閉されていると聞いたスウィーニーはターピンに復讐しようと決め、次々と惨劇を繰り返す。
