레슬리(Leslie: 레슬리 커밍 분)는 마술과 마녀 등에 관심을 갖고 책을 쓰려고 구상하는 중에 마녀가 살고 있다는 소문이 떠도는 외딴 섬으로 애인이자 사진작가인 게리(Gary: 데이비드 핫셀호프 분)와 함께 간다. 외딴 섬에는 예전에 호텔로 쓰였던 낡은 건물이 있는데 여러 사람들이 그곳으로 모여든다. 한사람씩 마녀에게 희생될 때마다 공포가 엄습해오고, 외부에서 구조의 손길이 올 때까지 꼼짝없이 발목이 묶이는 신세가 된다.그러는 동안에도 마녀의 저주는 계속되어 또 한사람이 목에서 피를 뿜으며 죽지만 구조하러왔던 헬리콥터는 끝내 그들을 발견하지 못하고 돌아가는데...
